Lenten Reflections from members of MUMC from days gone by...

Scripture: "Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." II Corinthians 9:7
Reflection: Do whatever you can for your fellow man and do not let others dissuade you. Whatever you do, it must come from the heart and be done happily with love. From this you will gain more inner peace than you thought possible.
Prayer: Lord, Give me the strength to be of my own mind in doing your work as you would have me do. Thank you for holding me and supporting me when I stumble. Amen.

Scripture: "For the Son of Man came to seek out and save the lost." Luke 19:10
Reflection: I was one of the lost until 1973 when my neighbor took me to Bible Study. After a few weeks of study I felt I needed Christ in my life. I shall always be grateful for her for her insistence on going. I have found my life to be so much more meaningful and I want to tell everyone of Jesus' love.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that as we reach out to others whether it be through a Bible Study, or a Sunday worship or by the example of my life, they may see your glory and accept you as their Savior. Amen.

Lenten Reflections from members of MUMC in days gone by...

Scripture: "Yet, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand." Isaiah 64:8
Reflection: As a young girl belonging to the Rainbow Girls, one of the hymns sung during initiation of nine new members contained this verse. The words, 'You are the potter, I am the clay, mold me and make me' have always caused me to stop and think - am I molded as God would want? Do I follow His teachings? Am I thankful, forgiving , caring, spiritually sound? I fear if I have to ask myself these questions then the answer is no, I am not s the Lord would mold me and I must ask for his help and guidance to mold me. I cannot stop believing and following the herd and must continue to learn and grow in the ways of the Lord.
Prayer: Lord, Please continue to mold me and make me after thy will.

Scripture: "He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?" Micah 6:8
Reflection: God has made His wishes clear. He wants His people to do what is right; love mercy and walk humbly with Him. We need to examine our lives daily to see if we are treating people fairly, showing mercy to those who wrong us, and praying always for those who don't walk in His ways. To walk humbly so that our pride and self are not our downfall.
Prayer: Dear Lord, Be with us each and every day that we may walk in Your ways and glorify your Name above all other. Amen.
